What's interesting is... WNEW-TV really began to hit in late 1966 - when it began airing the Flintstones. That beat Superman on channel 11.

Later during the 1970's - ratings for WNEW-TV as a whole, were about a 15 (that's share of market) very good for an Indy - especially in NY) and WPIX would average 7's and 8's.

Channel 9 always had a problem because of all the sports. It was hard to build a consistent program audience. But, that worked well for them.

The NY indies together - had about a 31 share - the rest was split between WCBS, WNBC and WABC as network programmers.
